SAB stresses importance of adopting professional audit standards

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Oct 7 (KUNA) -- State Audit Bureau's (SAB) Acting President Adel Al-Sarawi said Sunday that adopting professional standards and monitoring obstacles are essential for auditing.
Al-Sarawi's remarks, made on his behalf by Issam Al-Mutairi; SAB's assistant undersecretary for financial and administrative affairs, addressed participants of a workshop titled "Lessons learned from implementing INTOSAI's standards in auditing." The workshop, which kicked off earlier today and ends on Thursday, is organized by SAB with participation of members of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI).
Al-Sarawi stressed the importance of enhancing auditing procedures, tools and measures to contribute in boosting SAB's capacities and potentials of its staff in accordance with the bureau's 2016-2020 strategy.
The International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) was keen on issuing a number of international standards during its 20th conference held in South Africa in 2010, he noted.
INTOSAI's standards highlighted basic audits, including financial, performance and commitment, and sought to apply them on a wide scale via international supreme audit bodies, added Al-Sarawi.
Such standards have contributed in providing audit bodies with the means to achieve success, he noted, adding that INTOSAI's development initiative has significantly helped enhance ARABOSAI's work environment. (end) km.ma
