Oman Professional League: Dhofar edges Sur to make it five wins in a row Rustaq stuns Sohar

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Dhofar's scintillating form in the 2018-19 Oman Professional League (OPL) continued as it edged past Sur 2-1 to record its fifth straight victory at the Sur Sports Complex on Sunday.

The ten-time domestic league champions now has 15 points form its five games to remain four points clear of second-placed Al Nahda, which eked out a 3-2 win over HM's Cup winner Al Nasr at the Al Buraimi Sports Complex on Monday.

Odai Khader was the star in Dhofar's win as he struck twice, first in the 20th minute and then the winner deep into the injury time of the match after Sur had drawn level in the 22nd minute through Saud al Farsi. The loss kept Sur among the bottom-three with just two points.

Muscat is third in the table after it was held to a 1-1 draw by the defending champion Al Suwaiq at the Sohar Sports Complex. In an earlier match at the same venue, Mirbat thrashed Majees 3-1 to remain among the top-four teams with nine points.

Meanwhile, at the Seeb Sports Stadium on Sunday, Sami al Hasani netted the winner for Al Shabab as it scraped past former champions Al Arouba 1-0.

On Monday, Saham got past Oman 5-3 in an eight-goal thriller to climb up to fifth place.

And Rustaq upset Sohar 2-1 at the Seeb Sports Stadium, also on Monday, for only its second win of the season.
