Oman- Abeer Hospital launches Specialty Clinics for joint pain, sinusitis and piles

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Keeping in mind the vital role of speciality clinics to meet the healthcare needs of the people, Abeer Hospital at Ruwi, a unit of Abeer Medical Group owning and operating healthcare facilities across the GCC and India, has launched exclusive clinics at no consultation fee.

The hospital has decided to launch the clinics on three common ailments - joint pain, sinusitis and piles. The clinics will continue free consultation till the end of November. By introducing these exclusive clinics, Abeer's aim is to pervade awareness among the public about the disease, available treatment modalities and, most importantly, preventive measures to lead a hassle–free life avoiding surgical interventions. The clinical consultations are offered during the outpatient timings on Wednesdays and Thursdays, i.e. from 9am to 1pm and 5pm to 9pm.

The piles clinic of Abeer Hospital has the consultation for male and female patients by Dr Sukumaran Vengayil, medical director and consultant - General Surgery, and Dr Amaravani Medithe, specialist general and laparoscopic surgeon, respectively. The clinic functions on Fridays.

Elaborating on the clinical features, Dr Vengayil stated that the role of speciality clinics is key in ensuring public wellness. He said, 'Though piles is commonly seen, patients are reluctant to come forward for treatment due to the sensitive nature of its origin. It is a cause of significant distress to those who suffer from it. Timely intervention through lifestyle modifications and diet control can cure piles. Surgery is often the last resort.'

The speciality clinic for Sinusitis also has free consultation, which is on Wednesdays. Dr Sabarinath Vijayakumar, specialist - ENT, a graduate and post graduate from JIPMER India who possesses sound medical expertise in endoscopic and sleep surgery, heads this clinic.

According to Dr Vijayakumar, the aim is to help care-seekers with prompt diagnosis of sinusitis and allergic rhinitis, and improve their quality of life through proper and expert interventions. He elaborated on pathophysiology and most common symptoms of the condition including headache, facial pain, nasal blockage and repeated throat pain. The third specialty clinic is inspired by the commonly seen joint pain among all age groups. This clinic is open on every Thursday.

Dr Sundaramoorthy Mahalingam, specialist - Orthopaedic Surgery at Abeer Hospital, who is in-charge of the clinic, has a special focus on trauma joint replacement and arthroscopy. He is glad that the clinic has catered to the healthcare needs of many patients in the first days itself. He said, 'Joint pain also called Arthralgia has different causes. Most of them are harmless and can be resolved without any long-term problems. However, some causes require long-term treatment. In this specialty clinic, we provide patients with effective treatment.'

'The idea of launching speciality clinics is to make sure that better care and services are given. Abeer will go on with its motto of ensuring wellness by providing quality healthcare,' said Jamsheer Hamza, director, Abeer Medical Group, Oman Operations.
