Dubai, Oman Police find man's body in wadi in search operation


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Dubai Police and the Royal Oman Police worked together to search for a man who went missing in Wadi Al Qahfi. Oman Police received information about disappearance of the man at their operations room. Rescue teams from Dubai and Oman Police worked together to search for the man.

After a lengthy search, they found the man's body. Authorities found that Omani national drowned in one of the wadi's water pools.

On the other hand, the Dubai Police General Department of Transport and Rescue dealt with 82 land accidents during the first half of 2018. The accidents led to 23 deaths and 113 injuries; Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Ali Bishoh, head of the land rescue department at the General Department of Transport and Rescue revealed.

According to Lt. Col. Bishoh, most of the accidents took place in Rashidiya with 25 reported cases resulting in 9 deaths, 19 serious injuries and 26 minor injuries. Jebel Ali came in second with 20 accidents on record resulting in 6 deaths, 4 serious injuries and 17 minor injuries. This is followed by Al Barsha with 14 accident reports (5 deaths, 15 injury reports), Bur Dubai with 13 accidents (1 death, 17 injury reports).

Lt. Col. Bishoh said that the increase in number of land accidents could be attributed to speeding on highways, especially those that connect Dubai to other emirates. Specifically, he highlighted the Hatta region where they recorded two accidents which resulted in two deaths and six injuries.
