(MENAFN- Arab Times) Budget hiked for fingerprinting project
KUWAIT CITY, March 20: Minister of Education and Higher Education Hamed Al-Azmi has extended the deadline for receiving applications from Kuwaiti teachers specialized in 18 subjects who did not graduate from the Faculty of Education, reports Al- Shahid daily. Al-Azmi told the daily the decision aims to give these teachers enough time to apply.
Meanwhile, sources disclosed many Kuwaiti teachers who have applied so far are specialized in three subjects only — Computer, History and Geography; indicating no one has applied for the 15 other subjects. In line with the instructions of the minister, no expatriate will be hired locally until the Kuwaitis complete their applications and their number is determined, sources added.
In the meantime, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Sector in the Ministry of Education Yousif Al-Najaar said the Ministry of Finance has increased the budget for the implementation of fingerprint attendance system in schools from KD 835,000 to KD 1 million as per the request of its education counterpart, reports Al-Anba daily.
Speaking to the daily, Al-Najaar disclosed the tripartite committee in charge of the application of fingerprint attendance system in schools decided to increase the budget due to the opening of new schools in various educational districts. He said work is underway to give the project to companies specialized in the installation of fingerprint machines.
