Oman- ITA discusses world's digitalisation trends with eTransformation heads

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Information Technology Authority (ITA) held an open meeting with the heads of eTransformation teams at the government entities in Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM).

It was held in the presence of a number of officials from the government.

The open meeting covered a range of topics, including smart government, emerging and future technologies in the world, the impact of eTransformation in various sectors, investments and revenues, as well as examples of successful eTransformation projects in Oman, stated a press release.

The meeting also shed light on the priority plans for the next phase, the current status of eTransformation and the importance of activating the official eGovernment Services Portal, 'Omanuna'.

During the meeting, Dr Bader bin Salim al Manthari, acting DG eServices Division at ITA, said, 'This meeting aims to enhance the continuation of communication between ITA and government entities to drive the eTransformation forward, exchange experiences and highlight the exerted efforts in improving eServices. It focuses on maximising public satisfaction, engagement and eParticipation through building a close relationship with the public based on trust.'

He added, 'According to global statistics, the expected value of eTransformation in various sectors will reach US$100tn in 2025. The carbon dioxide emissions are expected to decrease by 20 per cent by 2030 due to the development in eTransformation. In the sultanate, for example, the Invest Easy portal of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, spared the public over 4mn personal visits during four years.

'The Invest Easy also saved time, money and efforts as well as the volume of data exchanged electronically.'
