Kuwait- KRCS launches two aid campaigns in Lebanon


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, May 27 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) on Saturday launched an 'iftar' (Muslim evening meal in Ramadan) campaign and a 'kiswat eid' (feast clothing) campaign in Lebanon.

The first project targets distributing 80,000 iftar meals throughout the holy month of Ramadan at a daily rate of 2,750 meals, said coordinator of the relief works of the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) Youssef Botrous.

Beneficiaries from this annual custom of the KRCS include Syrian and Palestinian refugees in needy Lebanese families in the western city of Tripoli, the southern city of Sidon and the eastern Beqaa Valley, he told KUNA here.

The clothing initiative, being carried out in collaboration with LRC, focuses on Syrian refugee families across Lebanon, he went on.

Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, KRCS has launched several food and medical aid projects that benefitted scores of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and other countries in the region. (end) ayb.gb
