Iran fights to pass deals with top plane makers
(MENAFN) US politicians have been fiercely opposing Iran's recent deals with the world's two major aircraft manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus, but the Islamic Republic revealed it'll not give up.
Although no formal agreements have been inked, all sides remain committed to the undertakings they have given, according to the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran's (CAO) latest announcements.
In more detail, Iranian airlines need to purchase nearly 500 planes over the next ten years to replace the aging fleets and to take advantage of the forecasted growth in air travel in the following years.
In January, Airbus approved to sell 118 aircraft to Iran in a USD27bn arrangement, then it was followed in June by Boeing cautiously agreeing to sell 80 planes to Iran Air in a deal worth USD17.6bn.
