Note: Prices of food and beverages, which account for more than 18 percent of the basket, rose 5.6 percent from a year earlier in August and 1.8 percent from the previous month. Housing costs, which account for nearly 29 percent of consumer expenses, jumped 6.5 percent year-on-year but were flat month-on-month.
