Authorities arrests two women attempting to detonate bomb in NYC

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Two women were arrested Thursday on charges of planning to detonate a bomb in New York City area, and authorities were convinced they are radicalized by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), local news reports said.

Federal authorities have arrested two women (in their 20s and 30s), allegedly trying to build an improvised explosive device, "but its unclear how far along their plan had reached," the reports added.

ISIL propaganda and their alleged online activities contributed to their ultimate shift toward violence, said the federal authorities.

In February, Brooklyn Federal Court charged three persons with attempt and conspiracy to provide material support to ISIL and expressed willingness to carry out attacks on the terror group's behalf in the US.

A criminal complaint was unsealed in federal court in Brooklyn charging Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev, Akhror Saidakhmetov, and Abror Habibov with attempt and conspiracy to provide material support to ISIL, a foreign terrorist organization, Department of Justice confirmed in a press release by the office of public affairs.
