Marzouki Meets European Parliamentary Delegations

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Tunis October 24 (QNA) - Tunisian caretaker President Moncef Marzouki met Friday with delegations from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament currently in Tunisia as part of an observing mission for the country's legislative and presidential elections the official TAP news agency reported.



Marzouki stressed the importance of monitoring elections in all their stages and said he is confident Tunisians will ensure the success of these elections which constitute a step towards achieving goals of the country's uprising and bringing to completion a model democratic transition a press release by the presidency said.



Members of the two delegations praised the electoral process and the state's facilitating of work of the Independent High Authority for Elections.

The legislative elections take place on Sunday before the transitional period concludes on November 23 when the presidential vote is held. (QNA)
