Oman awards projects worth USD1601.17m in H1


(MENAFN) The Tender Board of Oman awarded projects worth more than USD1601.17 million in the first half of 2014, compared to last year which was USD2227.04 million, according to Times of Oman report.

Statistics reported by Oman News Agency that the Tender Board in 2014 indicated that road projects were the highest among other sectors in terms of value.

The projects include the Bidbid-Sur Road dualisation project cost USD493.11million, and the Khasab-Tibat road in Musandam Governorate, worth USD 109.12million.

The third project awarded in Dualisation of Taqah-Mirbat road in the Governorate of Dhofar, worth USD 104.96million.

The A'Rustaq-Maskan road in the Governorate of South Al Batinah cost USD71.96 million.

Another awarded project will be to design and implement internal roads in the Governorate of South and North A'Sharqiya.

The tenders included USD58.72million to be spent on the first part and USD45.47 million worth of construction of tunnels in Al Batinah road.

Through the projects, the government aims to reduce traffic in the Sultanate, improve social rapprochement, open the doors to trade and tourismto flourish, find alternative roads.
