Meiji suspends baby milk sales in China
(MENAFN) Meiji, a Japanese baby milk maker, said that it plans to suspend sales in China due to increased costs and competition, Times of Oman reported.
China placed a ban on milk imports from Japan in 2010 when foot-and-mouth disease spread in the country, but sales of milk powder made in Australia by the company continued.
The company's spokesman said: "Due to the rising costs of raw materials and increasingly fierce competition, the company has found it difficult to make a stable profit in the market."
"The company will consider resuming its milk powder business there when the market environment improves," he added.
