Airbus receives order for 100 A320s from Malaysia's AirAsia
(MENAFN) Airbus announced that it has received an order from AirAsia for 100 more A320 single-aisle aircraft, reported Emirates 24/7.
The French plane maker said that the agreement brings the total number of A320 planes ordered or already handed over to Southeast Asia's top budget airline to 475.
The deal comprises orders for 64 of the A320neo, a refurbished model that Airbus advertises as more fuel-efficient version of the A320.
AirAsia's CEO, Tony Fernandes, said that the new order will enable the carrier to launch new routes and raise frequencies on flights to the Philippines and Japan.
It is worth noting that at the current time, the airline has a fleet of 100 A320s that flies out of bases in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Manila and Tokyo.
