Israel unveils grant plan to halt decline in farmers' numbers

(MENAFN) Israel has reportedly initiated a governmental grant program cut down the significant drop in the number of farmers in the country.

The plan, of which the Israeli Ministries of Finance and Agriculture arranged, has been announced on Wednesday, as reported Hebrew-language newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth."

Under the program, the USD12.4 million grants are to be presented to youth who will accept positions in agriculture and former farmers who are willing to go back to the field.

The drop of the number of farmers in the country was driven by the shortage of the state's support, low benefits and hard-physical work.
