The Venerable Galaboda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, who was found guilty of threatening the wife of journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda, Sandya Eknaligoda, and was sentenced to six months in jail recently, was today granted bail.
Bail was approved when the appeal against the judgement delivered on the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena was heard today.
The Venerable Galaboda Aththe Gnanasara Thero was brought to the Homagama Magistrates' Court after bail was approved and he was freed on bail after meeting the conditions.
The hearing into the appeal was to be conducted by the Homagama Magistrates' Court on Tuesday but it was postponed to today as official from the Attorney General's Department were not present last Tuesday. (Colombo Gazette)
