Poroshenko calls on Macron to increase pressure on Russia


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with President of France Emmanuel Macron.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian president on Saturday, June 16.

The parties discussed the security situation in Donbas and the need for a UN peacekeeping mission throughout its occupied territory.

The interlocutors congratulated the restoration of meetings in the Normandy format at the level of foreign ministers and agreed on further contacts in this format to ensure the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

The Ukrainian president called for increased pressure on Russia to release all Ukrainian hostages as soon as possible, including Oleg Sentsov, Roman Sushchenko and Volodymyr Baluch.

Emmanuel Macron congratulated Petro Poroshenko on progress in reforms, and especially the adoption of the Law "On the High Anti-Corruption Court".

The interlocutors also discussed preparations for the Ukraine-EU and Ukraine-NATO summits to be held in Brussels in July.

The Ukrainian president invited the French president to visit Ukraine.
