Sultanate ranks among 29 richest countries in world


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- As per the statistics released by the Business Standard newspaper, based on the data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the sultanate has been ranked among the top 29 countries in the world in terms of per capita gross domestic product (GDP).

The sultanate is ranked 27th on the world level as the per capita GDP stands at US$45,723 per annum, ahead of the UK where the per capita GDP is US$45,565 per annum and France with a per capita GDP of US$45,473 per annum.

Qatar tops the list with a per capita GDP of US$128,702 per annum followed by Macau where the per capita GDP is US$122,489 per annum followed by Luxembourg with US$110,870 per annum.

The newspaper pointed out that twice a year the IMF releases data about the economic power of the world's nations, with per capita GDP being a key statistic. The IMF ranks the world's countries according to their per capita GDP based on purchasing power parity.

The list covers all the countries with a per capita GDP higher than US$45,000 per year.
