Pakistan- Manzoor Afridi selected caretaker CM of KP


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak and Opposition Leader in KP Assembly Maulana Lutfur Rehman have agreed on the name of Manzoor Afridi as caretaker chief minister for the province.

Sources said the name of Manzoor Afridi was proposed by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) which was accepted by the KP government after three rounds of talks. The formal announcement in this regard will be made at a press conference.

Manzoor Afridi, who is brother of Senator Ayub Afridi and uncle of Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi, hails from Khyber Agency.

On the other hand, the name of caretaker prime minister could not be finalised in several rounds of talks between Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah. The opposition leader has ruled out further consultation over the matter.

The tenure of the federal and provincial governments is ending on 31 May after which the caretaker governments will rule the roost till the general elections.
