UK court convicts imam of child sexual assault


(MENAFN) A spiritual head has been convicted of three sexual abuse counts of a in a mosque's attic.

Mohammed Rabani, aged 61, who has been an imam at a mosque in Sneinton, Nottinghamshire for over 25 years, rejected the charges.

The crime took place from 1990 to 1992, as the victim was aged 12 to 13 then.

Judge Gregory Dickinson QC declared: "The jury found you guilty of repeated sexual abuse of a young boy who was entrusted to your care."
