UAE- Leader Sport and Al Bayan impress

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Day four of the Sharjah Ramadan Football Championship (SRFC) has confirmed some of the teams taking part in the knock-out stages of the competition following a few fairly convincing results in the form of Leader Sport who netted 10 goals past Lenasi and Al Bayan who struck five against Sport 4 All with no reply.

SRFC, taking place at Sharjah Sports Club, is organised by Sharjah Sports Channel for the third year in a row under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and runs until June 1.

Getting into the later stages of the group format, the first game of the day was between La Magica and Al Forsan and after a see-saw start, La Magica opened the scoring in the fifth minute through Khalfan Hasan.

It took a while for Al Forsan to come back, but after several drives forward, Hamad Ibrahim produced an equaliser for the teams to into the break at 1-1. The second half followed in much the same vein, with plenty of pressure from both sides, but it was Yahya Sayed who broke the deadlock for La Magica with a score in the seventh minute which left goalkeeper Hasan Ramadan rooted to the spot.

Four minutes later, Hamda Hokal came back with an equalizer for Al Forsan, but a late goal from Khalifa Ali gave La Magica the points for a well-deserved 3-2 win.

Title-holders Al Embrator were brought down to earth with a bump by SDI in the second match, with the Azerbaijani player Think Telis opening the scoring, followed by another in quick succession from team mate Taher Obaid, ending the first half with SDI in control at 2-0.

Mohamed Boladi finally put Embrator on the scoreboard but initial hopes of a recovery appeared to be scuppered thanks to a second score from Tellis to stretch the lead to a two-goal cushion.

Marco Berg had different ideas, rapidly converting a second for Al Embrator to make it 3-2, but a last minute score from the Azerbaijani to complete his hat-trick gave victory to SDI and a cautionary lesson to the defenders of this year's championship.

It was all one-way traffic in the third match with Al Bayan showing supreme skills and confidence over Sport 4 All, despite just one goal coming in the first half in the form of a fourth minute strike from Ahmad Al Suwaidi to put Al Bayan ahead.

After the break, it was a more heated affair with plenty of chances for Al Bayan with Mansour Al Hadidi adding to the Al Bayan tally in the third minute, rapidly followed by another from the Spaniard Leman Lacore. The floodgates had opened for Sport 4 All and Portuguese player Morir Vierra wanted to get in on the act, with a clinical finish for goal number four.

Sport 4 All's Sultan Ahmed won't be receiving many thanks from his team mates for his red card after a foul against Al Bayan's striker Ahmed Al Suwaidi, whose revenge was sweet with a fifth goal seconds before the final whistle. A 5-0 defeat Sport 4 All will be eager to forget.

The last match of the day produced some of the finest finishing of the tournament so far as Leader Sport outclassed Lenasi with an endless barrage of shots and almost non-stop possession. The first half was a case of wearing Lenasi down with the first goal coming from Moroccan player Sufian Al Misrar in the eight minute, followed by a solid strike from Al Ali a minute later and a score from Al Misrar to put Leader Sport 3-0 at the break.

From the start of the second half, the Leader Sport players lined up to take shots, and the goals came fast and furious from Saoud Ali (fourth and fifth goals). Al Misrar scored the sixth, Mohamed Saleh the seventh goal, Hisham Al Montaser the eighth - and all in the space of a ten-minute period. Saleh took the glory for the ninth and Saoud Ali finally put Lenasi out of their misery with the final goal to strut to a 10-0 win.
