India and Sri Lanka Coast Guard maintain close cooperation


(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) width="269" height="174" data-recalc-dims="1" />The Indian Coast Guard and Sri Lanka Coast Guard are maintaining close cooperation and a good relationship between them, the Ministry of Defence said today.

The Ministry of Defence said that a recent visit to Sri Lanka by Director General Rajendra Singh, Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, helped heighten the bond between the two Coast Guards.

Rajendra Singh was in Sri Lanka recently on an official visit during which he participated in the 3rd High Level Meeting between the Sri Lanka Coast Guard and the Indian Coast Guard in Colombo.

Director General Rajendra Singh, Director General of the Indian Coast Guard and Rear Admiral Samantha Wimalathunghe, Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard headed two delegations at the meeting.

During the visit a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also reached between two Coast Guards on the establishment of a collaborative relationship to combat transnational illegal activities at aea and develop regional cooperation between the Indian Coast Guard and Sri Lanka Coast Guard.
