Open data brought Ukrainian economy more than $700 million last year Groysman


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In 2017, open data enriched Ukrainian economy by more than $700 million, so this area needs to be developed.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman informed this on Facebook.

"In 2017, open data enriched the Ukrainian economy by more than $700 million. If the movement for open data in Ukraine continues to gain momentum, this figure will be able to reach $1.4 billion by 2025. The Economic Potential of Open Data for Ukraine research presented such results today," Groysman wrote.

According to him, the G20 countries have long considered open data as raw materials for the enrichment of their economies. On this basis, new products, services, business models can be created.

"Therefore, I consider that the results of the research need careful study not only by journalists, activists, business analysts and IT industry specialists but also by all representatives of state and local authorities," the premier stressed.

The Government will continue to work on expanding the list of data sets that are subject to publication. The task of the authorities is to achieve the maximum economic benefit from the use of open data in Ukraine and to create for Ukrainian developers the necessary conditions for their activities.
