Afghanistan- Balkhis demand probe into attack on Shaheen Corps

Last year on this day, gunmen in military uniform entered the Shaheen Military Corps headquarters in Balkh province, killing 1,50 soldiers and wounding scores of others.
The provincial council members and some civil society activists held a gathering in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital, and announced their support for security forces.
Mohammad Ibrahim Khair Andish, a member of the provincial council (PC), said the government had not properly investigated the attack on the corps and those behind the massacre remained at large.
'The masses still don't know the incident unfolded and how a large number of soldiers were killed in a single raid.'
Hamidullah Safot, head of all provincial civil society associations, also asked the government to seriously investigate the attack.
He said if those behind the attack on the Shaheen Corps were not punished, similar attacks might happen in future.
