Zimbabwe discharges striking nurses with immediate effect

(MENAFN) Zimbabwe was confirmed to have fired over 10,000 nurses on strike, probably for labor turmoil to be suppressed.

The nurses dismissed an offer to come back to their job following an USD17 million investment for a payment raise, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga explained.

The vice president was also confirmed to have disapproved of their refusal to return "in the interest of saving lives".

Former army chief Gen Chiwenga declared "government has decided, in the interest of patients and of saving lives, to discharge all the striking nurses with immediate effect."
