Qatar Chamber seeks to boost trade with Turkey


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar and Turkey have reviewed co-operation ties in the fields of agriculture and food security on the sidelines of the opening of the Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) yesterday.
Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani met with Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Ahmed Ashraf Faqi Baba at the Turkish pavilion during the event. The meeting was graced by Qatar Chamber board member Mohamed bin Ahmed al-Obaidli and Turkish ambassador Fikret Ozer.
The meeting reviewed ways for both countries to enhance co-operation in the economic and trade sectors, particularly in food security and agriculture, according to a statement issued by Qatar Chamber.
'Qatar-Turkey relations have been rapidly developing in the past few years. The private sector in both countries is playing a key role in these profound relations. Qatari businessmen are interested to establish joint economic and business alliances with their counterparts from turkey and there are many Qatari companies that have concluded agreements with Turkish companies.
'There is abundance of investment opportunities and there is room for the Qatari and Turkish private sector to further co-operate in many sectors, said Sheikh Khalifa.
This was reiterated by the Turkish minister, who said, 'There are various opportunities in projects that serve both countries' economies.
He added, 'Turkey has considerable experience in food processing and is ready to provide the Qatari market with all food stuffs and agricultural products.
As many as 173 foreign companies, along with 130 Qatari farms are showcasing their products at the exhibition, which will run until March 22.
