Brexit: UK, EU decide on transition period

(MENAFN) Britain and the EU have concluded their meeting with a "large part" agreed on for the deal that is supposed to light the way for the "orderly withdrawal" of the UK.

Both sides were confirmed by EU Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier to have settled on a transition period as he described the news as a "decisive step".

The statement made by the EU negotiator was made following talks that were held with Britain's Brexit secretary David Davis.

The transition period was announced to be starting from 29 March of the year 2019, as it aims to ease the way for future ties between the UK and the EU.
