He noted that the trophy will tour a total of 91 cities, 24 of which will host the trophy for the first time.

'It is a great pleasure to be here in Amman because we know that there are so many passionate fans in Jordan. We are happy to be here in the region because we know that people are passionate about football,' the FIFA official added.

Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh, who also attended the press conference, described Amman as not only the city of peace, but also the city of sports and youth.

Luai Ameesh, board member of the Jordan Football Association (JFA), said JFA aims to promote the local football scene to the world.

'We pay attention to promoting football from the grassroots including women's football. Jordan's women team will participate in the Asian cup and there is a great hope for them to reach the world cup,' he added.

The FIFA World Cup will be hosted in Russia this summer between June 14 and July 15.
