Afghanistan- 150 held for trying to smuggle drugs to India this year


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) (Pajhwok): In total 150 people, including 11 , have been detained this over trying to smuggle drugs to India at the Hamid Karzai international airport in Kabul, the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) said on Monday.

Khalid Muwahid, CJTF spokesman, told in a press conference that the detainees had swallowed heroin-filled capsules and wanted to transfer the drugs in their bodies to New Delhi. The detainees included 11 women.

He said 70 to 80 kilograms of heroin would have been transferred to India had the detainees managed to leave the Kabul airport.

He said 27 of the detainees had been sentenced from two years and six months to 20 years in jail.
