Azerbaijani Armed Forces are conducting training with the participation of the command staff of the Armed Forces, Defense Ministry reported on December 15.

Deputy Ministers of Defense, commanders of all types and branches of the Armed Forces, chiefs of the main departments and services of the ministry, commanders of formations, chiefs of staff, and other officers participate in the training.

Before the beginning of the training, review of the military personnel was held, the ministry notes.

Then, Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov brought to the attention of the participants the tasks assigned to the army by President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, and gave general instructions on holding training as well as determined activities on the main areas.

The military personnel passed tests for knowledge of military regulations, guidelines and other normative legal acts as well as the level of physical training. The servicemen also carried out shootings from the regular weapons of armored vehicles and small arms at training sites in the field conditions.

The Azerbaijani Army, which today is considered the most modern army in the Caucasus, consists of Air Force and Air Defense Forces, the Navy, and the Land Forces.

The skills and combat readiness of the Azerbaijani army are growing year by year, as the country's Armed Forces regularly conduct military exercises. The Azerbaijani army is supplied with modern weapons and technical equipment for maintaining a high level of combat capability.

The army building process is of particular importance for Azerbaijan, as twenty percent of the country's territory is under Armenian occupation and the country is in a state of war with Armenia.
