Pakistan- PHC moved against protests outside KP Assembly, Governor House on GT Road


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: A lawyer here Tuesday filed a petition filed at the Peshawar High Court seeking a ban on holding of protests and rallies on Grant Trunk Road outside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and Governor House.

The petitioner Advocate Khurshid Afridi, in his petition, said that all political parties and government employees held protests on GT Road outside the buildings for their demands due to which common people face immense problems.

The petition said due to protests traffic remain jam for hours due to which commuters going to hospitals, offices, railway stations, courts and bus stands spend hours in traffic jam.

It said that several roads have been closed for traffic due to construction work on Bus Rapid Transit project. If protests are held on the remaining opened road then it would bring city life to a complete standstill, the petition said.

The petitioner urged the court to impose a ban on such protests on roads and direct the government to assign a specific place for such activities.
