(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Mwasalat will launch its taxi service from Tuesday. In the first stage, the service can be availed at commercial centres and through on call.
The airport taxis will be launched in January 2018. In a press conference held on Monday, Mwasalat stated that the service will include a mobile application for instant and pre-booking taxis as well.
This will allow users to avail the service 24hrs anywhere in Muscat. The app, which can be downloaded from Google Play and Apple Store, will provide all details about the vehicle and the estimated time of arrival.
The tariff for Saturday to Thursday from 6am to 10pm will be fixed, while there will be a separate tariff from 10pm to 6am. The app will also provide tariff details for Fridays and other official holidays.
Payments will be allowed only in cash until card services are started. Mwasalat also stated that during the promotional period starting from Tuesday till January 30, 2018, the taxi service will have an opening fare of RO1 during the day, and the on call service will have an opening fare of RO1.2, and an additional 300bz per km.
During the night, the starting rate for taxis at commercial centers will be from RO1.3 and the on call taxi will be available at RO1.5 with an additional 350bz per km. Mwasalat has said that it has ensured that its vehicles adhere to all safety standards and have the most technologically sound meters keeping in mind the interests of the users.
The taxis will also have a GPS tracking system through which the driver's activity can be monitored. Mwasalat has also trained a number of drivers in health, safety and customer services. It has also invited customers to try their services and give feedback. Customers can contact Mwasalat through various channels such as it social media pages or through its mobile app.
