Usyk, Briedis to fight in Riga on Jan 27


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The fight between WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine and WBC champion Mairis Briedis of Latvia in the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight semifinals will take place in Riga on January 27, according to Boxingnews 24.

"IBF World cruiserweight champion [Murat] Gassiev (25-0, 18 KOs) will be fighting unbeaten WBA champion [Yunier] Dorticos (22-0, 21 KOs) on January 20. WBO champion Usyk (13-0, 11 KOs) will be battling WBC champion Briedis (23-0, 18 KOs) on January 27," reads the report.

Earlier, Kyiv, Dubai or a U.S. city were seen as a probable venue for the fight.

Usyk and Briedis have not yet lost in their professional career. The Ukrainian won in 13 bouts (11 KOs) and the Latvian in 24 (18 KOs).
