Pakistan- Policeman among 7 die, 250 injured in Islamabad clashes


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 26 November: Seven people, including one policeman, have died and 250 injured in clashes between security personnel and protesters in Islamabad after which Army has been called to control the situation.

According to a notification issued by the interior minister, Army has been deployed in Islamabad for an indefinite period. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal to resign over his failure to handle the issue of protest. The PTI secretary general Jehangir Tareen said the interior minister has failed to handle the issue, therefore, he should resign.

The operation was launched against the protesters at 7:00am on Saturday after expiry of final deadline. Seven people, including a policeman, have died in the clashes, while 250 others injured. The injured also include police and FC personnel.

After the clashes, all the news channels and social media websites are closed.
