Rich nations escaping climate pledges- developing nations


(MENAFN)UN negotiations in Bonn has warned that if wealthy nations kept failing in delivering on short-term climate commitments landmark treaty will fail to be enrolled, where 134 developing countries are participating, including India and China.The diplomatic spat has emphasized the difficulty of reaching an agreement at the 196-nation talks."If we do not respect decisions that we have made, then how can we build trust among the parties?" stated Chen Zhihua, China's senior negotiator, referring to long-standing pledges by rich nations to improve financial support and "revisit" targets for limiting greenhouse gas emissions before 2020."And how can we lay a good foundation for the implementation of the Paris Agreement?" he wondered at a press conference Thursday, flanked by diplomats from India, Iran, Nicaragua and Ecuador.
