After organising aid twice, Omani wants to help loan defaulters in Yemen

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- After delivering over 100 tonnes of aid to Yemen in the holy month of Ramadan and 55 tonnes in February, Nasr al Jadhami is in the process of organising supplies in time for Eid al Adha.

Jadhami said he also plans to help those in prison who have been sentenced for loan defaults less than US$100.

The 44 year old public relations officer spoke to Muscat Daily about his current campaign.

'I thank all residents of Oman for their kind support. The people of Yemen who were helped on previous trips asked me to relay their gratitude. As before, this time, I plan to take a minimum of 55 tonnes (40ft container), of aid. As before, I have placed a shipping container outside my house in Mawaleh for that purpose. This time around, I'm looking to have a volunteer doctor join us on the trip.

'On my last trips, I have forged relations with Al Nahdhah Charity Organisation in Yemen as well as the local authorities. I have managed to get police or army escorts to various refugee camps and visit prisoners. These connections will hopefully help us with logistics and ensuring safety on future trips.'

He added, 'This time around, I also plan to help release those people who are in prison for loan defaults. The loan amount is often below US$100 (RO38.4 approx). 'Also, I plan to intercede on these people's behalf with the local authorities as surely someone with a US$100 loan shouldn't be sitting in a prison cell. I would also like to purchase animals for the ritual sacrifice in Eid al Adha as well.

'Conditions in refugee camps are appalling. The last camp I visited had 24 makeshift huts packed with people and refugees were continuing to stream in. Not all of the huts had electricity, none had running water, and the whole camp had only one toilet. The closest fresh water source was around 500m away. So, I would like to donate some water coolers this time around.'
