Kuwait- KUNA Chairman stresses on media role in cultural dialogues


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, March 21 (KUNA) -- President of Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA), Chairman of the Board, and Director General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah stressed on Tuesday the importance of media in boosting cultural dialogue amongst people of the world.

In remarks to KUNA on the sidelines of "Media Spreading Civilizations and Connecting Dialogues" conference held in Beirut between March 20-21, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij said that responsible media outlets and organizations needed to investigate the credibility of news before spreading them.

Verifying news sources contributes to strengthening dialogue amongst people, said the official, adding that such thing will lead to peace and security worldwide.

Media organizations are facing many challenges especially with the advent of modern technologies, which are challenging traditional journalistic methods, said KUNA's Chief, affirming it vital was to find means to make sure that news were accurate and credible.

He lauded Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) for organizing the conference aimed at bolstering cooperation amongst Arab and international media outlets.

The NNA launched on Monday the two-day conference under the auspices of Lebanese Minister of Information Mehlem Al-Riashi.

A large number of Arab and international news agencies, ministries, academics, and experts are taking part in this conference. (end) ff.lb
