Labour Minister, ALO chief discuss cooperation


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Feb. 19 (Petra) -- Minister of Labour, Ali Ghazawi, and the Director-General of the Arab Labour Organization (ALO) , Fayez Al Mutairi, Sunday discussed cooperation between the two sides on employment and other labour issues.

Ghazawi said his ministry endeavours to address poverty and unemployment through launching job-creating small and medium enterprises to secure a decent living for Jordanians.

He stressed the importance of forging a true partnership and close cooperation with the private sector through special programs and initiatives to train and rehabilitate young job seekers.

The ALO chief said his agency is keen to promote cooperation with the Jordanian government, employers and workers.

He spoke about challenges facing development in Arab countries in light of the regional turmoil, calling for concerted efforts to improve standards of living in the Arab world.
