UK inflation rate up to 1.6% in December

(MENAFN) The Office for National Statistics revealed that increasing air fares and food prices have assisted to push up UK inflation in the past month.

The office also announced the annual rate of Consumer Prices Index (CPI) inflation climbed to reach 1.6% in December compared with 1.2% in November.

On the other hand, the Office for National Statistics posted that raising costs for imported materials and fuels pushed up producer prices.

However, the decline in the pound since the Brexit vote was beginning to feed into the economy.
