Geely Auto originally set its sales goal at 600,000 vehicles at the start of 2016 but moved to adjust to 650,000 units and then re-adjusted to 700,000 units based on the strong demand for the company's product range.

Geely's Generation 3.0 series of vehicles was introduced in April 2015 with the launch of the Geely GT, which has proven to be exceptionally popular with domestic Chinese and foreign consumers alike. Over the course of 2016, Geely introduced the Emgrand GL and Emgrand GS along with the X7 sport SUV as Geely's 3.0 range, all of which have entered into a 'demand greater than supply' situation.

The Emgrand GS is Geely's first urban crossover vehicle and was introduced in May 2016. It has continued to be a strong seller for Geely, with sales reaching over 10,000 units by December 2016. Total yearly sales for the Emgrand GS reached 60,521 units.

In March 2016, Geely launched its 'Pivot to SUV' strategy, which will see the company use its leading strength in the sedan segment to launch a series of SUVs in the short term. In 2016 alone, Geely launched two SUV's and one urban crossover, all of which were received with acclaim from the consumers and media alike.

Geely's flagship sedan, the Geely GT, continues to excel with over 5,609 units selling in December, an 8.5 per cent increase over November 2016 sales; total sales for 2016 reached 51,957 units.

Geely's first major SUV, the Geely X7 sport, was launched in March 2016 and quickly set a new standard for the Chinese SUV market. The X7 sport focuses on having three greats: being great to drive, great to look at and great in technology. As a result, the highly equipped X7 sport sold over 100,000 units since its introduction. The Geely X7 sport currently has a back order of 180,000 units, which will be delivered over the course of 2017 from two production facilities with multiple shifts in operation.

The Vision SUV, Geely's third SUV offering in 2016, saw sales reach 10,527 units in December 2016, accounting for a total of 49,447 units sold since it was launched in August 2016. Geely's 2017 sales goal has been set at one million units, an increase of 31 per cent over 2016's sales goal. This ambitious sales goal has been set amongst the extreme demand for Geely's product range and the continual rise of the Geely Auto brand image.

Geely Auto Group CEO said, 'We have already sowed the seeds for Geely over the course of 2016 with the introduction of our Generation 3.0 products; in 2017, we plan to reap a strong harvest. 2017 is a key year for our brand-building activities; we are putting the user at the forefront of the entire Geely experience with increased service levels and wider sales channels to provide the service level that consumers demand.'
