(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Casablanca - A new survey published in Forbes Magazine names Morocco as the only country in the world where female business students expect to earn higher salaries than males after graduation.
The survey, conducted by Human Resources consulting firm, Universum Global, surveyed 302,807-business students across 57 countries. Students were asked how much they expected to earn in the first year following their graduation.
The four countries indicating the best pay parity are Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and Nigeria. Both male and female Moroccan business students expect to earn a little less than USD 15,000 per year, while Emirati students anticipate making a little less than USD 40,000 per year. Vietnamese students place a starting salary at around USD 5500, whereas Nigerians anticipate beginning their careers at about USD 12500.
Among these four gender parity countries, however, Morocco is the only nation where females expect to earn higher wages than males. Moroccan females expect to earn USD 1.03 for each dollar a male makes. Emirati females could earn 99 cents for each dollar, Vietnamese expectations hover around 97 cents, Nigerians 94 cents, while Americans, who do not figure among the best countries in terms of female parity, will earn 91 cents for each dollar a male earns.
The survey adds that despite this, males and females do not have equal economic status in Morocco as only 27 percent of females are actually in the labor force. Fully employed Emiratis females represent 42 percent of the total female population. Both countries, however, have the smallest gender pay gap in the world because their females tend to have higher education levels than males.
Countries where women's expectations are much lower are Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Russia. For each dollar males expect to earn in these locations, their female counterparts expect to earn 79 cents, 79 cents, 79 cents and 80 cents, respectively.
