Avalon Minerals Ltd defines near-surface gold system in Finland

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) Highlights from the 1400 metre drilling program includes:
- 7 metres at 1.2 g/t gold from 9 metres;
- 10 metres at 1.1 g/t gold from 33 metres; and
- 1 metre at 15.2 g/t gold from 57 metres.

The deepest hole was drilled to only 200 metres below surface and ended in anomalous gold mineralisation.

Within the main system, gold mineralisation has been identified as narrow high grade zones within quartz veins and breccias, and as wide low grade intervals within veined and altered rock.

The Satulinmäki Prospect is part of Avalon's Southern Finland Gold Project, which also includes the Riukka gold prospect.

Historical diamond drilling at the Satulinmäki prospect by the Geological Survey of Finland was undertaken from 2001 to 2005 and comprised 60 holes for 4727 metres.

Highly anomalous results have been identified from the historical drilling over an area of 700 metres x 500 metres, with the gold system open in all directions

Avalon is planning to commence a 3D induced polarisation program in December and follow-up drilling is planned for January.

The company is well funded with $1.7 million in cash as at 30 September 2016.
