(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Casablanca — Donald Trump's elections on November 8 has sparked a slew of acts of Islamophobia across the United States.
One Twitter user posted the picture below, stating that a gay couple who live near his mother in Charlotte, North Carolina had a piece of paper placed on their car that said the following:

Though Islamophobia existed before November 8, Trump's election to the presidency has sparked a new wave of anti-Muslim behavior.
Many Muslim women have been afraid to wear the hijab or have received discriminative comments about their hijab.
Mehreen Kasana, a Muslim woman and an editor in New York City was told, 'Your time's up, girlie' by a man she passed on the subway platform.
I have a scarf on. Passed by someone on the platform today and he says, 'Your time's up, girlie.'

In an interview with Buzzfeed News, Kasana said that she didn't usually cover her head but did so that day because it was cold. At the subway station, Kasana said a 'white man who had to be in his mid-30s, holding a briefcase and a newspaper first looked at me and grunted. Then he said, 'Your time's up, girlie.''
Others are too scared to wear the hijab, and have been warned by family members to not take the risk.
Another Twitter user also tweeted that her little sister was afraid to be Muslim. The text has been retweeted more than 1,000 times:
my 8 year old sister just told me she's scared to be muslim. That broke my heart. I'm crying. Don't tell me his words don't matter.

A spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations has told The Independent that 'There are tremendous levels of fear given the anti-Muslim rhetoric we have seen from Donald Trump during this campaign.'
'Now we have to wait and see if it was all an act or if he's really going to carry out these bigoted policies,' he added.
Regardless of whether or not Trump will legitimately carry out any of the proposals he used during his campaign, it is clear that his rhetoric alone has been enough to instill fear in the Muslim American community.
