Traffic Safety Expo activities to spread awareness in a fun way

The ROP in cooperation with Omanexpo has announced details of the Oman Traffic Safety Expo which will be held from October 18-20 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

The announcement was made by Brig Eng Mohammed bin Awadh al Rawas, Director General of Traffic at the Road Safety Institute in Seeb on Monday.

He added that the exhibition will be opened under the auspices of H E Eng Mohsen bin Mohammed al Sheikh, chairman of Muscat Municipality. Organisers said the fifth edition comes as a result of continuous and active campaign against road accidents by ROP and private organisations. The exhibition will feature 53 private companies and 21 supporters from the oil and gas, automotive, banking, traffic equipment, training, and construction sectors, taking up space of 16,000sq m.

To date, organisers have received confirmation of participation from 26 ministries, five departments of ROP, 12 wilayats, and ten non-government organisations. Officials said Traffic Safety Expo 2016 will provide information in an entertaining and fun way for children, a quiz area for adults, traffic games, a puzzle competition, and other activities.

Ebrahim Taher, exhibition manager, Traffic Safety Expo, said, 'We aim to instill a deep sense of responsibility and awareness regarding road safety not only in adults, but also in children.' In addition to education and entertainment activities, there will be a raffle draw. Visitors to the event, which will include school and university students and families, are expected to reach more than 60,000. The exhibition will be open from 9am to 1pm and from 4.30pm to 9pm on all three days.
