Saudi Food and Drug Authority bans import of poultry meat and eggs from Togo

Riyadh, 25 Dhu-AlHijjah,1437 AH, 26 September,2016 , SPA -- Saudi Food and Drug Authority has imposed a temporary ban on the import of poultry meat, eggs and their products and equipment from Maritime area in the Republic of Togo because of the spread of bird flu of high virulence.
The Authority said in a statement on its website www.sfda.gov.sa, that this procedure was based on the immediate notification report issued by World Organization for Animal Health which states the appearance of focus of the bird flu of high virulence of the strain (H5N1) in that area.
The Authority excluded from the temporary ban poultry meat, eggs and their products treated thermally or in any other way capable of eradicating the bird flu virus.
