The West Indies team completed their first session of training at Dubai Sports City's ICC Academy facility. The team arrived in Dubai on September 15, 2016 ahead of their Cricket series against Pakistan, which includes three Tests, three ODIs and Three T20Is.

The West Indies chose to come in to Dubai a few days earlier than the Pakistan team to take advantage of the ICC Academy's world class facilities says newly appointed captain Carlos Brathwaite`

"I have been here at the ICC Academy before, memorably before the world T20 when we had a very important camp. There are a lot of well-prepared pitches, out door and a few indoor nets as well here, and two fields you can use side by side, and for the coaches that gives them options, and for the players that gives you options, because some guys prefer nets, and even if you want to go indoors and tweak something with the coach and the bowling machine that is possible as well.

" I think (what is important) is the range of facilities and the proximity to facilities as well, because the grounds the nets and indoors are not too far from each other. It gives the coaches a lot of access and a full range of options to use.

West Indies Captain Carlos Brathwaite believes his team is ready to make a bid for the top spot in the shortest format of the game. "We are trying to cement ourselves as the World's Number One team, the rankings don't show it yet, but that is our aim coming over here, to defend what we think is out title as the world's number one T20 team, and we are giving it out 100%."

The Series begins in Dubai where the first two games of the 3 match T20I series will be played on Friday and Saturday, September the 23rd and 24th. The two teams are also scheduled to play 3 One Day Internationals, and Three Tests during the course of the tour.
