Morocco is Ahead in Terms of Immigration Services, UN Official

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Morocco is ahead in terms of hosting and offering services for immigrants, said, on Thursday in Rabat, UN resident coordinator and UNDP representative in Morocco Philippe Poinsot.

Morocco is ahead compared to other countries since it has shown, through its nationwide strategy for immigration and asylum, a good practice internationally in terms of regularization, hosting, offering services, granting rights, and other facilities put at the disposal of immigrants and refugees, said Poinst at a press conference on the UN Summit for Refugees and Migrants slated on Sept. 19 in New York.

Noting that Morocco, as a member of the international community, is directly involved by the problem of mass displacement and movement of refugees and immigrants, the UN official assured that the UN is glad to assist Morocco in the implementation of its immigration policy via a joint program bringing together 8 UN agencies in Morocco.

The Summit for Refugees and Migrants is a watershed moment to strengthen governance of international migration and a unique opportunity for creating a more responsible, predictable system for responding to large movements of refugees and migrants.
