Oman had tasted its first defeat when it was outplayed by Saudi Arabia 0-3 on Monday. It had won its previous two matches against Bahrain (3-1) and Qatar (1-0). Kuwait is not participating in the tournament as it is suspended from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the FIFA. The biannual tournament is played on a round-robin format.
