3 Omani students win top honours at UK varsity's science project contest

Three Omani students won awards at the Best Science Student Project contest organised by Brunel University in London.
The contest which was held as part of the Omani Open Day activities saw as many as 17 projects in fray. Dawood bin Ahmed bin Hamoud al Mahrooqi (PhD student in petroleum engineering at the Imperial College) won the first place for 'Understanding the Rate of Water Injection in the Ionic Carbonate Rocks'. Mohammed bin Nasser bin Saif al Oufi from University of Surrey won second place for 'Osmosis: Way to Provide Low-Salinity Water for Water Injection Into Oil Reservoirs'. Juma bin Obaid al Nahdi student of mechanical engineering at the University of Liverpool came third for his project 'Designing and Manufacturing the Next Generation of the Transistor'. The ceremony was held in the presence of H E Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Zahir al Hinai Oman's Ambassador to the UK and Julia Buckingham vice chancellor of Brunel University.
