MoCI working to make Oman hub for quality products

The Ministry of Commerce and industry (MoCI) represented by the Directorate General for Specifications and Measurements is working on making the sultanate a hub for quality products.

Eng Idris bin Hassan al Sinan from the Directorate General for Specifications and Measurements Quality Control Department MoCI said 'The aim of the department is to ensure that the sultanate becomes known for quality products and services. Quality is considered to be the most important factor on which companies depend while marketing their products to distinguish them from those offered by other companies.

In a press release Eng Sinan stated that the directorate has issued Ministerial Decision 130/2000 related to the quality mark approved by the ministry.

'The quality mark is an assurance that the goods bearing it match the standard specifications and technical requirements. The Omani quality mark seeks to create consumer awareness about the product manufactured by any company. It aims to ensure that the product follows health and safety specifications' he stated in the press
release.

Eng Sinan said that the use of the mark comes as part of the efforts to promote quality at all levels of production.

'To ensure that the product is worth carrying the quality mark it must fulfil the approved standard specifications' he stated.
